Cats - Illustration Friday

When I was a young girl, I remember having several bottles of bubble bath; bottles shaped like tall, slim cats. These bottles were made out of a hard plastic, and were usually pastel-colored. This was my inspiration for this week's Illustration Friday topic, "Cats."

When coming up with my design, I started with pastel colors, but played a bit with the color trying to get a more calming hue. After intially sketching my cat by hand, I went into Adobe Illustrator and digitally drew the cats; I then added the background, color, texture and highlights in Adobe Photoshop.

E is for... - Illustration Friday

Classes start up tomorrow, so I have been busy preparing my lesson plans, files, and all of the "fun stuff" that goes with teaching. Therefore, I didn't have much time for "me." However, I am pretty happy with my simple design...gets right to the point.

I drew the main image in Adobe Illustrator, and then brought it into Adobe Photoshop where I created a brush for the nest and "texture", and then painted the image.

I am really enjoying Illustration Friday! This is giving me a great opportunity to practice my skills, and dig deep for my creativity.

Sea - Illustration Friday

Sometimes, art just doesn't need to make sense. Even it it means a golden fish is being trained to swim by his adopted daddy, the whale. But, you can make whatever story you want up about this scenario! Remember, at times art can be whatever you want it to be.

Flavor - Illustration Friday

A popular New Year's resolution is to lose weight. However, many people forget that resolution (including myself), or simply forgo their commitment to overindulge in a special flavorful treat they just cannot resist. My very first illustration for Illustration Friday depicts one of those overindulgences, and the subsequent results if you continue with that special treat instead of getting back on that resolution.
